Go implementation of the IETF MoQ Transport protocol and relay Latest tracked commit 1c05ec0: docs: review follow-ups on the comment trim — restore markers, contracts and invariants
WebTransport gives web applications a lower-level, QUIC-based transport option for bidirectional streams, unreliable datagrams, and real-time client-server communication. It sits in the gap between simple WebSockets and peer-oriented WebRTC: more flexible than a single ordered TCP stream, but easier to operate through servers than a full media session stack. That makes WebTransport important for multiplayer collaboration, live data, telemetry, interactive streaming control paths, and experiments around browser-delivered media over QUIC. The technology is especially relevant to MOQ because browser-facing MOQ implementations need a practical way to expose QUIC transport semantics without asking developers to ship native clients. This hub tracks MOQ Edge coverage of WebTransport capabilities, limitations, protocol comparisons, browser implications, and deployment patterns for teams deciding when QUIC-native web transport is worth adopting. It is designed for engineers comparing transport options, product teams evaluating browser readiness, and readers who want to understand how WebTransport could become a practical last-mile path for emerging media protocols.

This document specifies moq-e2ee-00, a versioned profile for end-to- end encryption of MoQ application payloads. Authorized publishers and subscribers share a 32-byte broadcast secret out of band. Each publisher instance mints an epoch and publishes under an opaque broadcast path ending in it. HKDF-SHA-256 derives opaque physical track names and per-track AES-128-GCM keys from the secret and the epoch; grouped frames and datagrams use separate key domains. Media frames and datagrams carry only ciphertext plus a 16-byte tag. The profile binds object identity through derivation and the nonce, not an on-wire header.

In Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT), subscribers can use Range Filters to select specific subgroups, objects, or priorities within a subscribed track. However, these subscription filters are static once established and can only be modified through explicit subscriber control signaling. This document proposes an extension to the Range Filter design that binds conditional evaluation logic directly to specific Range Filter sets. By introducing dynamic conditions to Range Filter configurations, a relay can autonomously adapt the intra-track forwarding behavior based on real-time network conditions, avoiding the round-trip delay of explicit subscriber update signaling.

This document defines an extension to Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT) that enables MoQ receivers to report delivery quality information for media Objects to senders. The MoQ layer synthesizes MMF feedback and local congestion control (CC) output to compute control decisions such as bitrate, frame rate, and pacing, and inform the CC algorithm module via a cross-layer control interface. This mechanism reuses the MOQT Track/Object data model without introducing new control message types. While QUIC ACK and reception timestamp extensions continue to provide per-packet CC signals; this mechanism adds per-Object media semantic feedback when the MMF extension is negotiated and enabled.

The Media over QUIC Transport (MoQT) protocol presents denial-of- service risks that differ in character from those facing typical request-response protocols. MoQT relays forward, fan out, and optionally cache media content on behalf of publishers and subscribers. This document complements the MoQT Security Considerations, focusing on the unique considerations for relays.
This document defines the Protocol for Agent Communication Exchange (PACE), a session protocol for AI agent communication over Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT). PACE provides session lifecycle management, multi-modal data exchange, agent identity verification, and delegated authorization within MOQT's publish/subscribe model, supporting point-to-point and point-to-multipoint topologies through relay infrastructure.
This document defines how to use Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT) as the underlying transport protocol for the Model Context Protocol (MCP). MCP enables integration between language model applications and external data sources and tools. MOQT provides publish-subscribe delivery over QUIC and WebTransport with native prioritization, relay caching, and multiplexing. This specification maps MCP messages onto MOQT objects and defines procedures for session establishment, capability discovery, and ongoing communication. It covers MCP's core primitives (resources, tools, prompts, sampling, and notifications) through dedicated MOQT tracks. The document also describes Agent Skills -- composed instructions that extend AI capabilities beyond atomic tool operations -- using progressive loading aligned with MOQT's object-based delivery.

This document defines TEMPO (Timing Extension for Media Playout Orchestration), a synchronized playout mechanism for media tracks delivered over the Media over QUIC Transport (MoQT) protocol. The Original Publisher stamps each object with when it should be played out and when it was sent. Relays replace the send-time stamp with their own clock as they forward, giving each subscriber a fresh timing reference from its nearest relay. Subscribers use these timestamps to decide when to render each object, and report their sync state directly to a coordination server (PlaySyncServer) that can tell the media publisher to adjust timing when subscribers fall behind.

This document specifies an end-to-end authenticated encryption scheme for application objects transmitted via Media over QUIC (MoQ) Transport. The scheme enables original publishers that share a symmetric key with end subscribers, to ensuring that MoQ relays are unable to decrypt object contents. Additionally, subscribers can verify the integrity and authenticity of received objects, confirming that the content has not been modified in transit. Additionally it allows MoQ parameters to be protected so the publisher can select if they are readable and/or modifiable by relays.

This document proposes a Media Over Quic Transport (MOQT) extension that enables a new Subscription Filter, so that a subscriber can request that a finite number of past groups be delivered with SUBSCRIBE semantics (multiple streams, potentially incomplete) rather than FETCH semantics (single stream, complete, head-of-line- blocking). Service of this request is best-effort by the publisher, and it intended to accelerate joining a track in some use cases.

This specification describes a Low Overhead Media Container (LOC) format for encoded and encrypted audio and video media data to be used primarily for interactive Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT). It may be used in the MOQT Streaming Format (MSF) specification, which defines a catalog format for publishers to declare and describe their LOC tracks and for subscribers to consume them. Examples are also provided for building media applications using LOC and MOQT.

This document defines an extension to Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT) that enables QPACK compression for control messages. By leveraging QPACK's dynamic table, this extension significantly reduces the overhead of repeated values such as track names and authorization tokens, improving efficiency for sessions with many subscriptions or frequent redundant values.
This document defines the core behavior for Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT), a media transport protocol designed to operate over QUIC and WebTransport, which have similar functionality. MOQT allows a producer of media to publish data and have it consumed via subscription by a multiplicity of endpoints. It supports intermediate content distribution networks and is designed for high scale and low latency distribution.
This document defines a protocol abstraction layer that enables Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT) to serve as a unified transport substrate for inter-agent communication protocols. The abstraction provides a common mapping of request-response and streaming patterns onto MOQT's publish/subscribe model, allowing diverse agent protocols to leverage MOQT's real-time streaming capabilities, built-in prioritization, and efficient multiplexing over QUIC. The document demonstrates the application of this abstraction to two prominent inter-agent protocols: the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol [A2A], which focuses on agent discovery, task delegation, and collaboration; and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) [MCP], which provides tool and resource access for agents. This unified approach enables interoperability across diverse agent ecosystems while preserving each protocol's semantics.
This document defines how to use Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT) as the underlying transport protocol for the Model Context Protocol (MCP). MCP is a protocol that enables seamless integration between language model applications and external data sources and tools. MOQT provides efficient, low-latency, publish-subscribe media delivery over QUIC and WebTransport. This specification describes the mapping of MCP messages onto MOQT objects and defines the procedures for establishing and maintaining MCP sessions over MOQT. It covers transport of MCP's core primitives including resources, tools, prompts, and notifications through dedicated MOQT tracks with appropriate priority management and delivery guarantees. A key focus of this document is the delivery and execution of Agent Skills - composed instructions that extend AI capabilities beyond atomic tool operations. Skills use progressive loading (metadata, instructions, resources) that aligns naturally with MOQT's object- based delivery, enabling efficient bandwidth utilization and aggressive caching strategies. The specification also describes relay support for scalable MCP deployments, including subscription aggregation, content caching, and multi-hop architectures that enable global distribution of MCP services with optimized performance.
This document specifies how Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT) can operate over QMux, enabling MOQT applications to function over reliable byte-oriented streams such as TCP with TLS. By utilizing QMux as an intermediate layer, MOQT deployments gain the ability to fall back to TCP-based transport when UDP is blocked or unreliable, while maintaining API compatibility with QUIC-native implementations. This document analyzes the benefits and trade-offs of this approach and provides implementation guidance for deploying MOQT over QMux.
This document specifies an end-to-end authenticated encryption scheme for application objects transmitted via Media over QUIC (MoQ) Transport. The scheme enables original publishers to securely share a symmetric key with end subscribers, ensuring that MoQ relays are unable to decrypt object contents. Additionally, subscribers can verify the integrity and authenticity of received objects, confirming that the content has not been modified in transit.

A deep dive into the three-tier architecture that makes MOQ uniquely suited for scalable, low-latency media delivery.
This document defines a comprehensive methodology for benchmarking Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT) relays to evaluate their performance under realistic conditions. The methodology utilizes configurable test profiles that simulate common media streaming scenarios including audio-only distribution, combined audio-video streaming, and multi-participant conferencing environments. The framework defines standardized message formats, synchronization mechanisms, and comprehensive metrics collection to ensure reproducible and comparable results across different relay implementations. Test scenarios cover both (QUIC) datagram and stream forwarding modes, enabling evaluation of relay performance characteristics such as throughput, latency variance, object loss rates, and resource utilization. The resulting benchmark data facilitates objective comparison and analysis of (MOQT) relay implementations, supporting informed deployment decisions and performance optimization efforts.
This protocol can be used to send and receive video and audio over Media over QUIC Transport [MOQT], using LOC[loc] packaging.
This document specifies how the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol can be transported over Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT). MOQT provides a publish/subscribe model over QUIC that enables efficient real-time communication between AI agents, supporting the A2A protocol's requirements for discovery, negotiation, and collaboration while leveraging MOQT's streaming capabilities and built-in prioritization mechanisms.

Real time systems often run into the problems where the network bandwidth for logging in shared with the real time media and impacts the media quality. There is a desire to transport the logging data at an appropriate priority level over the same transport as the media. This allows the logging data to take advantage of times when the media bitrate is blow the peak rate while not impact the peak rate available for media. This document specifies how to send syslog RFC5424 type information over the Media Over QUIC Transport (MOQT) [I-D.ietf-moq-transport].
This document specifies how to send metrics type information over the Media Over QUIC Transport (MOQT). Many systems produce significant volumes of metrics which either are not all needed at the same time for consumption by collection/ aggregation endpoints or may also compete for bandwidth with the primary application, thus exacerbating congestion conditions especially in low-bandwidth networks. Delivering these over architectures enabled by publish/subscribe transport like Media Over QUIC Transport (MOQT) [I-D.ietf-moq-transport], allows metrics data to be prioritized within the congestion context of the primary application as well as enabling local nodes to cache the metric value to be later retrieved via new subscriptions.
This document defines a mapping specification for representing Open Cybersecurity Schema Framework (OCSF) events, categories, and profiles using Media over QUIC Transport (MOQT) tracks. The mapping leverages MOQT's hierarchical data model and publish/subscribe architecture to enable real-time, in-network cached, scalable distribution of cybersecurity event data across networks while maintaining OCSF's structured taxonomy and semantic relationships.
